Apartment Helena and Victor

Belo Horizonte, 2021

For Helena and Vitor's new house, the main demand was to add color to the white walls of the apartment, to make the spaces more cheerful and cozy. The couple's desire was to transform the 95m² apartment with simple, quick and cost-effective solutions.

The kitchen is, for them, the main space in the house. To make it wider, the dividing wall with the living room was transformed into a bench, which connects the entire social space of the apartment. To highlight the space, which had few intervention options, we opted for an economical solution: painting the existing tiles in a vibrant shade of orange. In contrast to the color of the kitchen, the living room was marked by a soft, light blue niche. As the couple likes to receive friends and family, we thought of versatile furniture capable of accommodating guests.

The rooms were also given colors according to their use: For the office, the rust color was chosen to convey the feeling of comfort and coziness. The color was applied to the wall and cabinet and, to take advantage of the remaining paint in the kitchen, the niches were colored orange. The double bedroom, on the other hand, received a light beige tone, which composes with the earthy colors  of the decoration elements. Finally, for the bedroom of Liza, the couple's newborn daughter, we chose a light and discreet shade of lilac, complemented by wall stickers applied by the parents on a white wall.
